Each material reacts differently to environmental factors. Direct sunlight degrades plastics and fades painted surfaces over time. Selecting the Ideal Storage ContainersLeaving a model exposed on an open shelf invites dust accumulation and accidental impact from busy coworkers moving through the office. Transparent acrylic display cases offer the best dual-purpose solution, providing complete protection while keeping the model visible for ongoing inspiration. For models that need to be completely tucked away, heavy-duty plastic storage bins with gasket seals are highly effective. These bins shield the contents from dust, moisture, and pests. When selecting a container, ensure it provides at least two inches of clearance on all sides of the model to prevent any surface friction or pressure on delicate exterior details.

Mastering Internal Cushioning TechniquesA sturdy outer box is only as good as the cushioning inside. Avoid storing models on the floor where they can be kicked or damaged by cleaning equipment. Heavy models belong on lower shelves to prevent accidental drops during retrieval, while lighter, encased models can occupy higher shelving. Creating a Shared Accountability SystemMaintaining the integrity of corporate models requires collective effort from the entire team. Establish a simple sign-out log for times when a model must be removed for a client meeting or a presentation. This log tracks who is currently responsible for the asset and ensures it returns safely to its designated storage spot. Educate coworkers on proper lifting techniques, emphasizing that models should always be lifted from the solid structural base rather than by any protruding upper components. By combining protective materials, clear labeling, strategic spatial placement, and team accountability, an office can successfully preserve its valuable design investments for years to come
